Rikhardinkatu Library is a family-friendly gem in the heart of the city. With vast collections and plenty of peaceful spaces for reading, studying, and working, it offers something for everyone. Families can take advantage of reservable meeting rooms and group work facilities while enjoying a rich lineup of events and exhibitions.

The library’s special children’s section is designed just for young readers. It features a diverse range of children’s literature in many languages, a lively playroom, and plenty of activities that make visiting fun for kids and their families. Across several floors, you can also explore art books and a local collection that tells the story of inner-city Helsinki.

One of the library’s unique treasures is its artist book collection, which includes over 500 works of art inspired by the form and idea of a book. The building itself is an attraction—a beautiful Neo-Renaissance design by Theodor Höijer, and the first Nordic building created as a public library.
