Located on the second floor of the Hertsi Local Service Centre, Herttoniemi Library offers a vibrant, child-friendly space that opened its doors in 2020. The library’s crown jewel is the enchanting ‘Satukattila’ (fairytale pot) – a beautifully illustrated space that captures children’s imaginations and creates the perfect setting for storytelling and reading adventures.
Designed by Rune & Berg Design with input from local residents, the library features colorful interiors that instantly appeal to young visitors. Families will appreciate sharing the space with the youth centre located in the same facility, creating a lively atmosphere where children of all ages can thrive.
The welcoming staff are particularly attuned to the needs of families, regularly hosting activities for children’s groups from local daycares and schools. For busy parents, the library’s self-service feature offers exceptional flexibility – families can access the library with their library cards even outside regular opening hours, making it easier to visit at times that work best with children’s schedules
