Located within the Cultural Centre Stoa, Itäkeskus Library is one of Helsinki’s most popular family destinations, welcoming visitors since 1984. For multilingual families, this vibrant space offers an exceptional collection of children’s books in over 25 languages, celebrating and supporting the area’s rich cultural diversity.
Young creators will be delighted by the library’s Urban Workshop, where they can explore their imagination using exciting equipment like 3D printers and sewing machines. The library’s collection of over 100,000 works includes the area’s largest music collection, perfect for introducing children to the world of music and sound.
Conveniently situated near the Itis shopping center, Puhos, and the metro station, the library provides a calm, non-commercial space where families can spend quality time together away from the bustle of nearby retail areas. The spacious interior, designed by architects Björn Krogius and Veli-Pekka Tuominen, offers plenty of room for children to explore while parents browse the extensive collections.
